There was 2 separate tables for multiple accounts per person but it never kicked off.

After re-reading your old posts I just wanted to say that in 1.2.2 I did add an account status field to the users table so accounts aren't deleted when cancelled but that isn't what these tables are for. The _back tables are for backups only and the only way to maintain a backup is to keep the data separate.
Of course this can be handled in different ways but this was the easiest and best method to obtain a perfect backup for easy restoration.As for have 10000 "extra" records, I don't see a problem with it personally but if you would like I can add an option in the settings to disable the backups in a later version.

If your DB starts getting slow after 10,000 records then I'd recommended switching off MyISAM.
